Rights

Before publishing the digitized version of any item, either verify that the item is not copyright protected, or obtain permission to publish from the copyright owner.

The 'rights' Dublin Core field should include information on the copyright status of the original work and/or any restrictions to its use by the viewer.

In order to fall in line with international standards (also used by Digital Public Library of America), South Central Kansas Library System's Digital Library Initiative sites are moving toward the use of rights statements specified by Rights Statements and Creative Commons licensing.
